Levi Lamberjack was born in Alexandria, Indiana in the year 2000, at the height of Y2k angst, Britney Spears, and the launch of the beloved PlayStation 2. His upbringing in rural Indiana was one of lots of corn, highways, and finding things to do on a Saturday night, which included what him and his friends called "driving around", which was about as fun as it sounded. His earliest dreams of future employment were, according to his mother, "a banana"; that was, until the 2nd grade, when he joined the children's choir at his local rural catholic school. Music to him was a portal into something extraordinary, something that times would serve as an escape, and always would serve as a way to connect with God. From a very young age, the choral hymns, the John Denver tapes echoing from the stereo of his dads beat up Chevrolet, and the piercing sounds of Audioslave from his mom's cd player instilled something in him that would remain to this very day; a desire to do nothing else but make good music, and make music sound good.
Levi got his start in professional music at the age of 16, playing at bars, clubs, and the many DIY house shows in the Anderson music scene. He went on to earn a Liberal Studies degree in Music, Theatre, and Worship ministry at Bethel University in Mishawaka, IN. During this time he was constantly gigging around the midwest, both as a musician and a theatrical sound designer and audio engineer, and honing his craft as a songwriter. He has always been inspired by the traditional recordings of John and Alan Lomax, and it was in college when he began diving deep into the world of traditional American folk music of multiple traditions. He spent a bit on a Mississippi Cruise ship, which took him to the birthplaces of many genres of American music, and his love for the roots only grew with time. He has since found himself enthralled in the solidarity of the folk scene in Berlin, Germany, where he has strived to bring new life to old songs, learn the likes of other traditions of folk music (Shanties, Celtic, Jug Band), and dive into the industry with a grassroots and "against the grain" mindset. His sound can be compared to the likes of Pete Seeger, Tom Paxton, and Dave Van Ronk, and modern comparisons include C.W Stoneking, Ray Lamontagne, Jeffrey Martin, and Willie Watson.
Throughout his time, Levi has participated in lots of collaborative projects and bands, including Stay Nameless, The Dog Town City Band, Shotgun Willie and The Texas Pickers, as the arranger for Berlin's Newest Jug Band, which features many of the scenes eclectic and talented characters. He has worked with his Alma Mater on multiple occasions, notably as a recording artist on their student led "Christmas at Shiloh" album. He has collaborated with many artists, such as Mark Lavengood, Ben Traverse, and many of Berlin's greatest folk musicians, including Wyn Oran, James Michael Rodgers, and many more. He also has hosted his fair share of concerts celebrating the local scenes talents, most recently "The Ratzeputz Sessions" in Berlin's bustling Neukölln district, and at Berlin's annual "Feral Folk Festival". Levi currently lives in Between South Bend, Indiana, and Berlin, staying fairly active in both regions.
Levi recently released his debut EP "Sinking Ship" which he recorded at The Famous Gold Watch, which is Berlin's premiere studio for independent international songwriters. He plans to release an Album in late 2026 or early 2027. Earlier works include "The Gaslight: Reimagined" with Mark Lavengood and Ben Traverse, and "The Dogtown Sessions" recorded live at Dogtown Studios in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Levi will also be touring the US in 2026.
